It is to be noted carefully that the recent change in the law of Tibetan Govt has restricted dip bath in the lake and has categorized it as a punishable offence and penalized. So kindly refrain from going inside the lake and for the bath ask our sherpas only to bring water in a bucket for you to avoid penalities. After dip bath and prayer the group is ready to drive to Darchen and will travel passing by the Rakshasa Taal and Chiu Gompa by performing 70% parikrama of the holy lake. This is the day, we wake up early and after taking light breakfast, we head to Tarboche. Care to carry water bottle, some eatables before leaving for the trek. The Yatris have the opportunity to visit Yama Dwar before trek (Parikrama) starts. Tarboche is the main area (towards the South face of Mount Kailash where one can hire horse/pony to ride on the trek during the kora. The Cost and availability of Mule/Yak and porter is controlled by the local Union and Kailash yatra trip operators and our team will have no control over it. From Tarboche we proceed to Yama Dwar which is considered to be the start point of Kailash kora. From Yama Dwar we start 13 kms trek to Dirapuk slowly and gradually. The trek to Dirapuk today is fairly easy but as you walk in gain height and altitude you feel breathless and this makes the trek little cumbersome, as you feel short of breath on the trek. We will take a stop in the middle of the trek where we find some small shops and tea stall and then again continue to Dirapuk. On reaching Dirapuk the pilgrims will see the majestic Mount Kailash standing high on right side of their trek. Take some beautiful photos and then continue to your guesthouse near Dirapuk Monastery. On the way before Dolma La you will see site showing footprints of Milarepa and Shiva Tsal. Continue to climb up towards Dolma-La pass (5630m) and then steep down to reach Gauri Kund. We should cross the high pass as early as possible before strong wind start and make the trek more dfficult.
After crossing Dolma-La, you will see Gauri Kund (also referred sometimes as Parvati Kund) at downhill in the right side of your path. Then further walking down for a while, we will take break for pack lunch near a tea stall. The downhill trail from the top of Dolma La is not easy due to rocky & loose stones all around so we should walk very carefully and remain with the group for any help we may need. Then after, you will catch soon flat trail that reach to Zuthulphuk Gompa (4790m). In Zuthulphuk, we will stay at the mud house Dormitory style with beds in one room bed sheet & warm blanket. We will take quick dinner at and go to warm bed to rest after harsh fatique of day time.

At Darchen their extra expense for accommodation, food etc is to be taken care by themselves. Our guide may assist them in organizing their stay at Darchen accommodation, subject to availability.
Important Note : About 3-4 kms trek (ascend and descend) near Dolma La pass is steep and rocky and it is the toughest portion of this trek. Also there is restriction to go down to touch Gauri Kund as it may be steep and full of risk. When you the trek to Zuthulpuk, don’t forget to fill up your flask with hot water and lunch pack made ready by our kitchen team in the morning.

Further 06 kms drive will take us to Darchen hotel where other group members (who did not attempted the trek or came back from Dirapuk) are waiting. What is the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by Helicopter?
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra by helicopter is an expedited pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, two of the holiest sites in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon. Pilgrims typically fly from Kathmandu, Nepal, to specific points near the sites, avoiding the long overland journey.
What is the best time to go on the Yatra?
The best time is during the summer months, from May to September, as the weather is relatively stable and less harsh.
What is the duration of the Yatra?
The Yatra generally lasts around 7 to 10 days, depending on the specific itinerary and any delays.
What is the physical requirement?
The Yatra involves some physical exertion due to high-altitude locations (over 15,000 feet above sea level). Pilgrims should be in good health, and a fitness is often required before departure. Though the helicopter reduces the strain of the journey, altitude sickness can still be a concern.
Do I need to carry my own luggage?
No, most tour operators handle the luggage. You’re typically allowed only a limited amount (around 10-15 kg) due to weight restrictions in the helicopter.
How much does the Yatra cost?
The cost can vary depending on the tour operator and services provided, but the Yatra typically costs between INR 1.5 to 2.5 lakhs (or higher) per person.
What accommodations are provided?
Pilgrims are usually accommodated in basic guesthouses or tents at various points during the Yatra. While comfortable, the facilities are minimal due to the remote nature of the locations.
Can non-Hindu pilgrims participate?
Yes, the Yatra is open to people of all faiths who wish to visit the holy sites. However, it’s a deeply religious pilgrimage for Hindus, so participants should respect the religious customs.
Is the journey safe?
The helicopter journey is generally safe when conducted with reputable operators. However, it is always recommended to check the safety protocols and ensure that your operator has good safety records, as the high-altitude environment can be challenging.
Is there an age limit for the Yatra?
There is generally an age limit, with most operators allowing participants between the ages of 18 and 70. Elderly pilgrims should consult with the tour operator to ensure they are fit for the journey.
What are the packing guidelines?
Since the Yatra involves high altitudes and sometimes extreme weather conditions, pack warm clothing, light and breathable clothes for the day, toiletries, and a good pair of walking shoes. Be mindful of the luggage weight limit.
Do I need to be physically fit for the Yatra?
While the helicopter ride reduces physical exertion, you should still be in reasonably good health, particularly with regard to heart conditions or respiratory issues. There’s some walking involved at high altitudes, so being fit helps.
Can I perform the Parikrama (circumambulation) around Mount Kailash?
Some tours offer the option to perform the Parikrama on foot around Mount Kailash, which is a challenging trek (approx. 52 km), but this is usually not part of the helicopter package. For those wishing to do it, it’s recommended to check with the tour operator.
Package Include
Tibet portion of the trip
