1. What is Kailash Mansarovar Aerial Darshan?
Aerial Darshan is a flight-based service that allows pilgrims to view Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar from the air. The flight typically takes off from a nearby city (like Simikot or Nepalgunj) and provides a bird's-eye view of the region, including Mount Kailash and the surrounding landscape.
2. What are the main highlights of the trip?
The major highlight is the aerial view of Mount Kailash, a revered site in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon religion. Pilgrims also get to see the pristine Lake Mansarovar, known for its spiritual significance.
3. How long is the aerial darshan flight?
The aerial darshan flight typically lasts about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on weather conditions and flight routes.
4. Where does the flight start from?
Flights typically depart from cities like Simikot (Nepal) or Kathmandu. From Simikot, the flight will pass over the Himalayas to give you a clear view of Kailash and Mansarovar.
5. What is the best time to take the aerial darshan?
The best time for the aerial darshan is during the months of May to September when weather conditions are more favorable for flying. These months typically avoid the monsoon and harsh winter weather.
6. What should I bring with me on the flight?
While the aerial darshan itself doesn’t require special gear, it's recommended to bring:
A camera (for capturing the breathtaking views)
Warm clothing (it can get cold at high altitudes)
Valid identification documents (as required for travel across borders)
7. Do I need to be physically fit for this trip?
No, since this is an aerial darshan, there are no physical challenges like those encountered on the traditional Kailash trek. This makes it accessible to a wider group of pilgrims, including the elderly or those with health concerns.
8. How much does the aerial darshan cost?
The cost can vary depending on the tour operator and the services included (like travel to Simikot or Kathmandu, guides, etc.). On average, the price may range from $500 to $2000 per person.
9. Is there a specific procedure to follow to book the aerial darshan?
Booking is usually done through authorized travel agencies that organize pilgrimage tours to Kailash Mansarovar. Ensure the agency is certified and provides necessary support for border permits, flight bookings, and other logistical arrangements.
10. Is the flight safe?
Flights to the region generally operate on smaller aircraft that are accustomed to flying in high-altitude and mountainous areas. While the flights are typically safe, weather conditions can sometimes cause delays or cancellations. Pilgrims should stay in close contact with their travel agency to receive updates.
11. Are there any restrictions or special guidelines?
Travelers should adhere to travel and health guidelines, including COVID-19 protocols, if applicable. Some flights may have specific age or health requirements, so it’s recommended to consult the agency for any restrictions.
12. Can I combine this with a full Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage?
Yes, some agencies offer packages that combine the aerial darshan with a full Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage, which includes the traditional overland journey and circumambulation of Mount Kailash.
