Chitwan- Famous Habitat for Wildlife in Nepal
Chitwan District is landlocked of the South Asia and situated in the western part of Narayani Zone. Chitwan means Heart of the Jungle; name is taken from two Sanskrit words “Chita” which means heart and “Vana” which means forest or jungle. Chitwan National park which is famous for the habitat of wildlife in all over the world is of the famous tourist attraction. Chitwan National Park was first wildlife park of Nepal, which includes rare species of wild animals like Asian Rhinoceros, Bengal Tigers, Mugger Crocodile, Gharial, Leopards, Indian Rock Python, and various species of deer. Chitwan National Park is on second position in population of Asian Rhinoceros. Crocodile farm and Elephant breeding center is also there in the park where animal breeding takes place.
There is one manmade lake named Lamital which was created by the dam built on Rapti River. Various exotic birds and waterfowl is the attraction of this lake. Chitwan National park is good in accommodation for tourist comfortability lodges and resorts are available outside and inside of national park. Every kind of lodges and resorts are available from the accommodation that provides simple shelter or food to the luxurious one. From the Kathmandu office only reservations can be made for lodges and resorts at Chitwan National park. Most lodges and resorts include various cultural activities, elephant safari, canoeing and jungle walks in their programs. Chitwan is the place where tourist can get lots of things to do and lots of entertainment and fun to enjoy.
The most enjoyable thing at Chitwan is jungle safari on the back of an elephant. Elephant take tourist in to the deep jungle by clearing the path and tourists can enjoy beautiful scenes of jungle from elephant back. Tourists can get good opportunity of taking photographs from top of elephant. Apart from jungle safari there are other ways like jeep driving, jungle walk and canoe ride to enjoy fauna and flora, bird life of Chitwan.

Bird watching is also one of the attractions of the Chitwan. It has been observed that there are over 539 species of birds are found in comparison to any part of the Nepal. Tourist will guide by naturalist who help them in pointing birds on the tree which tourist cannot locate by its own.
To get there at Chitwan daily flights from Kathmandu to Bharatpur is available and rest of distance is covered by road. The road journey will take 4 hours; tourist can enjoy sightseeing of the place which make their journey more pleasant and enjoyful.
